2012 Aging in America Conference
Barbara Marte and Sharon Santoni are representing Seniors Helping Seniors® services at the 2012 Aging in America Conference in Washington, DC from March 28-April 1, 2012. They state they are excited to have the opportunity to be in the Nation’s Capital during this time when the critical issues and political debates are queuing up. They plan to collectively engage in dialogues related to the Affordable Care Act, reauthorization of the Older Americans Act, the future of entitlement programs and enhanced quality of life issues affecting those we serve during a day on Capitol Hill.
In addition, they will be able to listen to the experts and share in discussions and innovative ideas related to aging services. The highlight of the week for Sharon and Barbara will be presenting a Poster that depicts the benefits of incorporating Active Listening with Seniors into the basic skill training for Senior Care Givers. Sharon and Barbara are pleased and excited to be invited as presenters at this dynamic conference and look forward to sharing their experiences with everyone upon their return.

Welcome
Serving Central and Lower Bucks County, PA
Seniors Helping Seniors® In-Home Services is a unique in-home service that matches seniors needing help with other seniors who want to help. This creates the support you or your family member requires from someone who will understand them & their needs; buildingrelationships on mutual respect, understanding and assistance. Quite simply, those who give and those who receive learn from each other and each grows a little bit more each day.
When cognitive deficits have eliminated the ability of the receiver to remember and grow from the relationship, the sense of comfort and wellbeing that comes from being in relationships with one who cares allows moment-to-moment experiences, which result in reduced anxiety and calmer behaviors.
In some situations, Seniors Helping Seniors® services are provided just for a few hours a week to take care of light housekeeping, meal prep or transportation to run errands and/or medical appointments. Some seniors who live with their family have become very frail or cognitively challenged and benefit from having a helper with them when the family is at work or school.
